Advanced Chrome based Chromium >50?

Post by c-sanchez » Sun May 01, 2016 8:59 pm

Hi, I wonder if they will be available later Advance Chrome based on Chrome/Chromium >50, at moment the latest versions i think are 52.
But the most important is, will be also available for Windows 2000/XP?
Since sadly Chrome/Chromium (and the forks) leave Windows XP support
By example, I was using SRWare Iron, until I saw that like Chrome/Chromium drop the Windows XP support :(
So it would be great to see a fork like Advance Chrome resolving also this :D

Hi! Advanced Chrome is going to be updated to latests builds even if enabling NPAPI is impossible, updating the code is easy but every update has its own problems, most of the time they destroy some feature.

About windows XP I dont know how they will stop supporting but will try to do my best to keep supporting it.

I have right now 10mbps download speed and updating chrome will take years lol, hopefully will have a faster connection soon to be able to work in the next update.

Meanwhile 48.0.2564.0 still working fine.

Heh what? 10mbps is a slow speed to upload/download? :S
Yeah, Advance Chrome 48 is working fine here :)
About a Chrome 50 based, we have now the first, Slimjet 10.0. i don't like really much the interface, but anyway is not bad.
http://www.slimjet.com/en/whatisnew.php
You can read on Slimjet 10.0 news: "Migrated to Chromium 50 (Yes, Slimjet 10 remains compatible with XP and Vista)", and yeah, is chromium 50 working on Windows XP :)

Just ran into my first website a week ago that said I needed a newer version of chrome. Would be much appreciated if you had the time for a new version.

Yeah, i waiting for a Advance Chrome based on recents Chrome src too, anyway the current Advance Chrome is working fine :)
btw Slimjet drop Windows XP support on version 12, We have fewer options to use a chrome based browser the XP users, so Advance Chrome is my last hope hehe.

Hey guys, new version is out, please report any problem.

03 - Dec - 2016 .- Added a new custom build 69.0.1325.0

http://browser.taokaizen.com/download/A ... 1325.0.zip

This custom build is special, I don't like recent chrome versions because they are disabling everything and making it a piece of shit.

This is the version I will use until Google disables their draconian mode.

Features of this version are:

Built for stability and compatibility.
Enabled GDI / DirectWrite disable flag.
Enabled NPAPI, this version runs JAVA and Silverlight
Enabled Windows XP support.
Improved download system.
Latest Stable WebKit / Blink version with 482 Points of 555 at html5test.com.
Everything works, google sync, netflix, webgl ...

Thanks admin! you are the best  this is wonderfull!!! :D :D :D
This is the best Chrome / Chromium Fork.
Really thank you very much by make this.

ok, testing this v69 i noticed the following details

- The settings menu show a crash, possibly by Flash Player.
if change the pepflashplayer.dll (flash player 23.0.0.207) by that flash player 20.0.0.286 the crash is fixed.

- it doesnt support any kind of hardware acceleration

- webassembly isnt enabled (it was on the advanced chrome v56)

there are plans to backport support for those? as on current state that makes it weaker than v49 for windows XP

One more time thank you very much for all.

Best regards.

Hi.
I don't know if it's a bug or not but I can't use Material Design, well I can, but it doesn't work. Could you fix this in next release?

Hi c-sanchez, thanks for your comments!

Sadly I don't have a real PC running windows XP, only have it running on a virtualbox to test it, so it is hard to get real world results on my tests.

Webassembly is not included on v69 because the build is windows XP compatible, already tried to merge this feature on a windows XP compatible build and it won't build, millions of errors.. :(

Hardware acceleration is also not working on my XP VHD, this is because directx libraries included in this build are newer than windows XP.

Where exactly you are getting the crash on settings menu?

Have you tried linux mint, fedora or some other linux alternative instead of windows XP?

Hi dzubias, welcome to the forum!

Sadly had to remove Material Design to make build 69.0.1325.0 compatible with windows XP.

However you can use version 56.0.2909.0, that has a newer UI core that supports material design by default.

Opening the settings menu, this error.
http://s6.postimg.org/k5alqv8j5/err.png
This screen is with Advance Chrome 513.0.8940.0

The browser continue working ok, but always when open the settings show this alert.

With this Flash Player version the error don't occurs

I see, I had the same doubt. but nice hehe, this is not really important, at least i think is more important the compatibility first too :)

I don't like any linux distro, all are useless for me :P

btw, if wish, try Yandex Browser, is an modern web browser based on Chrome and this still working on XP :)
https://browser.yandex.com/
maybe it can help you on someway? although is not open source :(

Anyhow my sincere thanks by your hard great work
