Trojan detected in Advanced Chrome 54.20.6530.0

Post by palacs » Fri Feb 01, 2019 8:18 am

There are at least 12 engines will detect the latest version of Advanced Chrome 54 (54.20.6530.0) as infected with a trojan called Backdoor.Enfal.Win32. It seems to come with the installation package (ZIP file that is downloaded from the main site).

You can see it for yourself on VirusTotal.

The other branch (69.0.3445.0) seems to be unaffected.

@TaoKaiZen, could you do something about this before users' trust get hurt?

Hello, welcome to the forum, the issue with Backdoor.Win32.Enfal.no was posted at this thread time ago:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2729

The file that is detected is CHROME.DLL, this affects most of old builds of chromium even the ones from google servers, the only fix is to submit the file to antivirus engines so they can check it out and fix the heuristic detection because the file is clean and it is a false alarm.

Can someone help submitting the file to engines?

Thanks, I don't have the url, check the antivirus engines main sites to see if they provide a submit page.

Check the virus total report, there are several false alarms.

Virustotal.com offers this kind of feature. You can also vote for scan results of files you upload, marking it as clean.

Sorry but there is no way to backport newer chrome to an older chrome that works under XP, mostly because v8 security sandbox of newer builds.
