Can't download images through extension

I installed advanced chrome last version on windows 7.
Downloaded extension "downloader for instagram (+ upload photo)".
When I want to download some image via button that appears over image nothing happens.
But in progress bar in taskbar i see that photo is downloading and downloaded.
Then I see my picture in download folder of windows 7. It is in tmp format, for example: 0e84be8c-2e4b-41dc-9acd-0b8e68e947ca
It can be opened using any app. But it is supposed to not be tmp but jpg, and to have proper name (of instagram user), and it is supposed to be shown in chrome's downloads, but there is nothing. Chrome does not show it in download list.
I tried one more extension, it did not work either, so what is the problem? Does it work for you?

Hello, welcome to the forum, did the extension used to work fine with version 69.0.3445.0?

Already tried, didn't work with version 69.0.3445.0, seems that advanced chrome is not detecting the download request from the extension, going to check what is wrong with the code.

Thanks for reporting!

Thanks, works! Btw, can you make ability so that app is fully portable, meaning that profile folder is like in Comodo Dragon or SRWare Iron?
Also maybe so that extensions are possible to install using crx file only like in Iron?
Also fix that pdf printing large size issue, so that files pdf files printed for example via 3rd party virtual printers are less size (like in Firefox):

Wanted to release a portable version time ago but could not find a way to do it simple, now 74.0.3840.0 supports Portable Mode.

To enable Portable Mode:
Inside Advanced Chrome directory create a file named: portable.txt
Inside Advanced Chrome directory create a directory named: User Data

How it works:
Your portable profile will be created at \Advanced Chrome\User Data\
To get all of your settings and passwords into your portable profile you can use Google Sync
You can copy Advanced Chrome to other computers and keep all your settings and passwords

Saved password format between portable and non-portable mode is different
If you copy non-portable profile into Advanced Chrome everything will work except passwords
You must use Google Sync to transfer passwords between non-portable and portable profiles

Tried loading external CRX files but seem google added additional security to avoid abuse, right now is not "safe" to remove that security feature.

Extensions can be loaded unpacked when developer mode is enabled on extensions page.

About the PDF issue, I already tried to reduce PDF file size months ago but no luck, it is related to fonts and how SKIA draws the PDF, not easy to improve, I am not an expert on PDF internals so it is way over my head.

Google is supposed to have an "special" team of people 100% dedicated to PDF, we will have to wait until they find a way to reduce PDF size.

I would like that portable option is enabled by default. Also that you make some settings backup/resotore/import/export tool like SrWare Iron has one inside portable browser folder. But I found offline way to backup and restore passwords that is already built in chrome.
Go to chrome://flags and enable "password import". Then export password to csv, then import password from csv, using that three dots that are in passwords just above individual passwords! And yes, I currently load extensions unpacked, usually put them in specially made folder in portable chrome.

The only confusing thing about developer mode and unpacked extensions that scared me the first time, even in normal chrome and other forks is that "https everywhere" and "web server for chrome" reported bugs. But that bugs are probably present even in online installed extensions, but not visible warnings in extensions. Usually becomes less obvious when again disable developer mode. Not an issue really.

As long as you keep portable.txt file on Advanced Chrome directory it will be enabled, when you download Advanced Chrome that file won't exist and will work on normal mode, it is not possible to make portable mode as default.

Good find about the password import flag, I normally use SQL lite to manage them.
